Introducing Our ROS 2 Essentials Course to the Community
As ROS developers, there is one event we are looking forward for every single year: ROSCon. For a second year in a row we joined the largest ROS developer event, and this year it was organized in vibrant Singapore!
Normally, we join ROSCon to meet like-minded people, and to learn from the other developers. But this year we had something extra: we had our first ever ROSCon talk as George presented our “Robotics & ROS 2 Essentials” open-source course as part of the lightning talks!

Giving my first ever lightning talk at ROSCon felt both humbling and awe-inspiring. Being able to share our work with the whole ROS community and in front of all the people who are actively pushing ROS 2 forward felt like the proper thing to do in order to get our work to as many people and new ROS learners as possible.
A University Project with Global Reach
When we developed the course for the master’s level course for University of Eastern Finland together with Ilkka Jormanainen (UEF), we would have never believed it to gather this much attention. As of today, over 2000 people globally have starred the GitHub repository, which tells to us that there was a need for a course introducing the main ROS 2 concepts through practical hands-on exercises.
